The Final Conference in Italy - March 20th 2025, Porto Conte
On March 20th, the Final International Conference of the BioYouToon project was held in the breathtaking setting of Porto Conte Natural Park in Alghero, Italy. The event welcomed over 100 participants, including project partners and local high school students, coming together to celebrate the results of the project. The conference opened with an engaging presentation by two expert park guides, who introduced participants to the natural beauty, biodiversity, and conservation efforts of Porto Conte. This set the tone for a day dedicated to education, creativity, and environmental awareness. Throughout the event, project partners presented the BioYouToon project, highlighting the activities carried out and the results achieved during the project’s implementation. Participants had the opportunity to explore the project’s key resources, including the e-manual, the toolkit, created for young people and youth workers to explore biodiversity through interactive activities and a showcase of biodiversity-themed webtoons, designed to raise awareness through visual storytelling. To foster active participation, the conference included a webtoon co-creation workshop involving local high school students. Working in small groups, students used illustrated storytelling cards to develop short webtoon stories that combined drawing and imagination. Each group presented their story at the end of the session, offering a creative and personal interpretation of biodiversity issues. This final event truly reflected the spirit of BioYouToon—blending creativity, education, and biodiversity and environmental consciousness—and offered a powerful moment of reflection, exchange, and inspiration for all involved.
